🖊️Roopsa Ganguly The International Kolkata Book Fair (IKBF) 2025, held at Boimela Prangan, Karunamoyee, Salt Lake, is drawing millions of visitors, making traffic management and public safety top priorities. To ensure smooth mobility and crowd control, the Kolkata Police and traffic authorities have implemented a structured approach. Special measures include designated parking zones, controlled entry and exit points, and assistance from emergency services through helpline 1930. A key highlight this year is the traffic awareness stall, where miniature road and traffic structures are displayed to educate visitors on responsible road behavior. Through interactive demonstrations, attendees, especially students and young readers, are learning about traffic signals, pedestrian safety, and the importance of following road rules. This initiative aims to promote awareness among citizens while enhancing public engagement. With extensive police deployment across the venue, officers are actively managing crowd movement and ensuring a safe environment for all. Multiple assistance booths have been set up to provide real-time guidance and emergency support. Speaking on the initiative, a senior traffic police officer remarked, “Managing traffic at such a massive event is a challenge, but our structured approach, coupled with public cooperation, is ensuring a hassle-free experience. The awareness stall is also a great way to instill responsible road habits among citizens.” Fairgoers have welcomed these initiatives, appreciating the seamless organization. A visitor shared, “It’s heartening to see such meticulous planning. The police presence makes us feel secure, and the traffic stall is an innovative way to learn about road safety.” The book fair, known for bringing together literature lovers from across the country, continues to be a well-managed and secure event. With this integrated approach, the authorities are setting an example for efficient event management while fostering public awareness on traffic safety.
