The 49th International Kolkata Book Fair (IKBF) 2026 was not only a celebration of books and ideas but also a vibrant showcase of Bengal’s evolving food culture. Among the many attractions, a few food stalls emerged as clear crowd-pullers, drawing long queues and enthusiastic reviews from visitors throughout the fair.

The Mukharochak stall stood out for its bold flavours and traditional yet innovative snack offerings. Items like Velpuri, Atvaja and Nimbu Mixture turned out to be consistent bestsellers. Visitors praised the snacks for their unique taste combinations, balanced spices and freshness. Many customers noted that Mukharochak managed to maintain quality even during peak hours, making it a preferred stop for repeat visits. The stall authorities also hinted at the launch of a new and innovative food item at the next International Book Fair, adding to the growing curiosity among food lovers.

Equally popular was Banglar Doi, which successfully blended tradition with creative presentation. Its special IKBF 2026 offerings—including classic doi, baked rosogolla, sorbhaja, and the much-talked-about baked patishapta with khirmalai—received widespread appreciation. Introduced exclusively for this year’s book fair, the baked patishapta emerged as a surprise hit, with visitors applauding its rich texture and authentic flavour. Regular customers described Banglar Doi as “comfort food with innovation,” while the stall confirmed that new items are in development for the next edition of the fair.
