It began not with applause but with curiosity—the kind that lingers before answers arrive. At the 49th International Kolkata Book Fair, amid the hum of readers and turning pages, The Siraj Cypher quietly announced itself. The book was launched on 25 January at the Sister Nivedita University stall, opening a two-day literary engagement that favoured conversation over ceremony. The book drew immediate attention for its promise of a fast-paced, twist-driven narrative. The launch featured filmmakers Arnab Riingo Banerjee and Ranjan Ghosh, Sreetanwi Chakraborty, Editor at Penprints Publication, Anirban Bhattacharyya, Senior Assistant Editor of Ei Samay, and Minal Pareek, Dean, School of Media Science, Arts and Design, Sister Nivedita University, whose discussion moved fluidly between storytelling, narrative form, and the enduring pull of the thriller genre. At its core, The Siraj Cypher is a sharp, high-velocity thriller following the exploits of Prithviraj Banerjee, combining intrigue with relentless momentum.

The celebration heightened on 26 January at the Press Corner, where the book met a larger audience of press and fairgoers. The space transformed into a site of live decoding with questions sharpened, answers arrived in measured fragments, and the audience leaned in, sensing escalation. The crowd swelled, lingered, returned, and carried the charge back into the fairgrounds, leaving behind a buzz that refused to settle. By the end of its two-day presence at IKBF ’26, The Siraj Cypher had achieved what every good thriller aims for: it unsettled, intrigued, and compelled readers to turn the next page.
